Tamer Afifi

Tamer Afifi holds a PhD in Economics (International Trade) from the University of Erlangen-Nürnberg, Germany, where his thesis was titled ‘The Challenge of Implementing the Overlapping Regional Trade Agreements in Egypt’, an MA in Economics of Development from the Institute of Social Studies (ISS), The Hague, The Netherlands, where his thesis was titled ‘The Poor in the Egyptian Labor Market During an Adjustment Period: For Better or Worse?’ and a B.Sc. in Economics from Cairo University, Egypt. He has been teaching and conducting economic research during his work as a Junior Lecturer at the Economics Department of the Faculty of Commerce, Sohag University, Egypt (Since 1996). Moreover, he joined the Bonn International Graduate School (BIGS-DR) of the Center for Development Research (ZEF), University of Bonn, Germany, as a Junior Researcher (2003), as well as the Institute for Environment and Human Security of the United Nations University, Bonn, Germany, as an Economics Researcher and Junior Academic Officer (2007).
